An Interview with Leon Edel

Leon Edel: History of an Imagination

Arnold Mann has been writing about health and medicine for 30 years. He has co-authored books with physicians, published his own, and he has written for the national press, including Time and USA Weekend magazines, the medical press, and the publications of the National Institutes of Health. In 1990, he covered a midwinter airdrop to the South Pole for Air and Space magazine. Mr. Mann was a student of Leon Edel and returned to Hawaii in 1981 for the following interview. Mr. Mann was ABD in English literature at the Claremont Graduate School before turning to his career, and received his M.A. and B.A. in English literature from the University of Hawaii (1977, 1975). He served in the US Air Force from 1969 to 1973.

Mr. Mann wishes to thank Linda Mae Balbien, Craig Howes at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and the Center for Henry James Studies for their help in making this important interview available to interested readers.
